Lecturers of
the Department of Social Sciences, Humanities and World Languages at METU,
Kuralay Aitkulova and Eleanya Nnanna Samuel, have organized a series of regular
practical sessions entitled “Practical English Grammar”, aimed at strengthening
students’ grammatical knowledge and developing their practical English language
skills. The primary objective of this initiative is to help students improve
their understanding and accurate use of English grammar, expand their
vocabulary, enhance their spoken and written communication skills, and increase
their motivation to learn English. Based on the principle “Learn – Practice –
Improve,” the sessions emphasize the practical application of grammatical rules
in everyday communication. Particular attention is given to sentence
construction, identifying and correcting grammatical errors, and reinforcing
theoretical knowledge through practical exercises.
A key feature
of these sessions is their interactive and student-centered approach, which
encourages active participation, independent learning, and greater confidence
in communicating effectively in English. The practical sessions take place
every Wednesday from 14:00 to 15:00 on the second floor of the university
library. Such educational initiatives contribute to students’ academic and
professional development by strengthening their language competencies and
preparing them to communicate effectively in an increasingly interconnected
international academic and professional environment.
The Department
of Social Sciences, Humanities and World Languages continues to promote
effective language learning, introduce modern teaching approaches, and create
opportunities for students to develop their communication skills and reach
their academic potential. Practical English Grammar – Better English, Brighter
Future!
