ENGLISH LANGUAGE WEEK: EXPLORING THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON HUMAN LIFE

On October 28, 2026, the International Engineering and Technological University hosted an educational event entitled “The Impact of Social Media on Human Life” as part of English Language Week. The event was organized by Beisegul Dina, a lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences, Humanities and World Languages.

During the event, students discussed the positive and negative effects of social media on people’s lives in English, expressing their ideas through theatrical performances and creative presentations. Visual materials developed using artificial intelligence technologies, interactive games, and educational activities were designed to enhance students’ language proficiency and communication skills.

The founder and leadership of the International Engineering and Technological University place particular emphasis on improving the quality of education in accordance with international standards, advancing foreign language teaching, and expanding international academic and research cooperation. The university’s established partnerships with foreign higher education institutions create new opportunities for academic mobility, student participation in international educational programmes, and professional development.

Highlighting the importance of these strategic priorities, Zharilkassyn Yerkinuly, Head of the Department, emphasized the essential role of English language proficiency in integration into the international academic community, effective participation in academic mobility programmes, and the preparation of competitive professionals. He also noted that such events contribute to improving students’ language skills and developing their ability to communicate in international academic and professional settings.

Faculty members of the department also attended the event, supporting students’ active participation and creative initiatives.

The event, held as part of English Language Week, contributed to the development of students’ language competencies, critical thinking, and creativity, while promoting awareness of the importance of responsible and mindful social media use.
