An
interactive English-language quiz titled `Intellectual Games` took place,
dedicated to the gaming industry, including video games, mobile applications,
board games, and sports games. The event was organized and conducted by the
Department of Social Sciences, Humanities, and World Languages as part of the
ongoing English Language Week. It was aimed at integrating gamification methods
into the foreign language learning process, combining academic goals with
interactive learning formats.
The
interactive format of the quiz allowed for a comprehensive approach to
developing the participants` language competencies. While completing the tasks,
students mastered highly specialized vocabulary and current gaming slang,
consolidated the use of complex grammatical structures, and improved their
listening skills in a dynamic communication environment. The practical focus
and team interaction format helped remove psychological and language barriers,
stimulating the development of spontaneous speech and argumentation skills in
English.
The
effectiveness of the event was confirmed by the high level of student
engagement and their positive emotional feedback. According to the students,
the game format significantly facilitated the memorization of new vocabulary
and made team collaboration as productive as possible.
The quiz
demonstrated the high educational value of gaming technologies, which
contribute to boosting students` intrinsic motivation, broadening their
sociocultural horizons, and successfully developing communication skills.
