REGULATION
on the Student Community WING (World International Student Group)
under the Department of International Cooperation
of the International Engineering and Technological University (METU)
1. General Provisions
1.1. The WING Student Community (World International Student Group) is a voluntary association of students of the International Engineering and Technological University (METU), established under the Department of International Cooperation.
1.2. In its activities, WING is guided by:
• The Regulation on the Organization of the Educational Process;
• The METU Educational Work Concept;
• The Concept for the International Development of the University;
• The Regulation on Student Research Activities;
• Internal normative documents of METU.
1.3. WING Community Motto:
“From METU to the World — One Community. Many Languages. Infinite Horizons.”
1.4. The community is established to integrate foreign and local students, develop international cooperation, strengthen intercultural exchange, implement joint projects, and support student adaptation in academic and social environments.
1.5. The activities of the community are coordinated by the Department of International Cooperation.
2. Goals and Objectives
2.1. Main Goal
To create a unified international student environment that promotes intercultural communication, expands METU’s global relations, and develops the personal and professional potential of students.
2.2. WING aims to:
• Form an active international student community at METU;
• Develop intercultural communication skills, tolerance, and global thinking;
• Organize events of international scale (forums, meetings, cultural and educational projects);
• Support the adaptation of foreign students in academic, linguistic, and social contexts;
• Encourage student initiative, leadership qualities, and creative thinking;
• Implement projects that contribute to METU’s global visibility;
• Create opportunities for language practice, cultural exchange, and volunteering;
• Develop competencies in diplomacy, communications, tourism, international relations, and global trends.
3. Organization of the Community’s Activities
3.1. WING carries out the following activities:
• Regular community meetings (1–2 times a month);
• Meetings with foreign students, representatives of international organizations, diplomats, and invited specialists;
• Educational master classes, workshops, language clubs;
• Cultural evenings, national culture days, and tradition exchange events;
• Project labs and international collaboration activities.
3.2. Preparation for each meeting includes:
• Assigning responsible persons;
• Collecting informational materials;
• Preparing an event script;
• Determining participants and invited guests;
• Coordinating with the Department of International Cooperation.
3.3. After each event, an analysis is carried out and a report is compiled.
3.4. Additional activity areas include:
• Development and launch of student initiatives;
• Support for foreign students (adaptation, consultation, mentoring);
• Participation in METU’s international programs;
• Volunteering and social initiatives.
4. Governance of WING Community
4.1. The community is managed by the President of WING, the Vice-Presidents, and the curator from the Department of International Cooperation.
4.2. The President is selected from among active students who demonstrate leadership, initiative, and responsibility.
4.3. President of WING — Sydykova Zhanbota Sagiyevna,
1st-year student of the “Tourism” educational program.
She was appointed President due to her initiative, responsibility, and active involvement in international and student activities at METU.

4.4. To ensure effective functioning, the structure of WING includes two Vice-Presidents.
4.4.1. Vice-President for International Students
Arwa Ait Benlaassel,
2nd-year student of the “Software Engineering” educational program,
Resident of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Arwa oversees communication with international students, supports intercultural dialogue, and facilitates adaptation processes.
She speaks six languages, participates in international projects, and strengthens METU’s multicultural environment.
4.4.2. Vice-President of the Community
Almat Tuzubaev Serikovich,
1st-year student of the “Tourism” educational program.
Almat contributes to coordinating community activities, developing student initiatives, and organizing events.
He is a multiple city champion and participant of national competitions, demonstrating discipline, teamwork skills, and leadership qualities.
4.5. Functions of the Vice-Presidents
Vice-Presidents:
• Support the implementation of the community’s goals and objectives;
• Coordinate work within their areas of responsibility;
• Facilitate communication between students and the Department of International Cooperation;
• Participate in planning and conducting WING events;
• Contribute to strengthening METU’s international activity and global student environment.
5. Membership in WING
5.1. Participation in the community is voluntary.
5.2. Any METU student interested in international and intercultural activities may join.
5.3. Members must:
• Comply with this Regulation;
• Actively participate in WING activities;
• Uphold principles of mutual respect, friendliness, and tolerance;
• Support the promotion of METU’s international initiatives.
6. Material Support of Activities
6.1. WING may use university facilities, equipment, and resources.
6.2. Partner organizations and external resources may be involved if necessary.
7. Final Provisions
7.1. This Regulation enters into force upon approval by the Department of International Cooperation.
7.2. Amendments may be introduced upon the recommendation of the President and the community curator.
