The main tasks of the Department of Academic Affairs are:
- The organization and management of the study process which is based on the credit system of learning.
- Constant improving of the learning process, and also improving the quality of the educational services.
- Development and the unique approach to the process of learning.
- Further improving the effectiveness of the ranking system of controlling knowledge (current, intermediate (рубежный) and final control of knowledge).
- The improving of the choosing disciplines system.
- Providing the newest scientific achievements, equipments, technological innovations to the learning process.
- Constant development of the entire educational programs in all types of study process.
- To provide the leading position of university by the provision of educational services among the universities of Kazakhstan and METU entry to the World Educational System.
The main activity of the Departments for Academic Affairs implements according to the main principles of Bologna reforms and develop the main advantages in credit educational system:
- Providing Academic mobility, give the chance to choose disciplines, individual participation of each student in the formation of his/her curriculum.
- The realization of Academic Programs flexibility, developing of different educational programs.
- The improvement in the competence approach in learning process, the workout of the study plans in all specializations of the university, their changes and update according to the requirements of providing the quality of study process in credit system and employees requests.
- The full transparency of the learning process, entire save system of controlling knowledge.
- The workout of the transfer credits system inside universities RK and with Foreign universities.
- The achievement in comparison, comparability and compatibility of diplomas and degrees, their recognition, and providing the international METU diplomas recognition.
- The development of the distance learning process, with traditional forms.
- The integration of science, education and innovations, improving of educational process with the new scientific and innovative achievements.

- Organizational and methodological support of all types of practice at the university;
- Conclusion of contracts with enterprises, organizations, institutions for the internship of students.
Department functions
- Conducting job fairs together with enterprises and organizations;
- Coordination of the work of institutes and departments on the organization and conduct of educational, industrial and pre-graduate practices of students;
- Development and updating of normative and methodological documentation regulating the educational process;
- Organization and development of mutually beneficial cooperation with industrial, scientific and business enterprises aimed at the development of educational, scientific, innovative and research activities to improve the quality of training and specialization of University graduates in order to include university students and graduates in the personnel reserve of relevant organizations;
- Planning, organizing and conducting planned university-wide practical events (job fairs, career forums, engineering competitions, presentations, master classes) aimed at facilitating the employment of graduates and undergraduates.
The main areas of work of the department
- Organization of interaction and cooperation of the University with the industry of Almaty, with scientific and production organizations, state institutions and private companies in the field of employment;
- Organization of the department`s interaction with university institutes and individual departments in terms of organizing educational, industrial, pre-graduate practices of students, their professional adaptation to modern labor market conditions and assistance in finding employment for graduates and undergraduates of the university;
- Organization of work with students – conducting career guidance work, providing information about vacancies of employers, organizing targeted internships and practices, as well as temporary employment during training, employment after graduation, planning and conducting practical events: job fairs, career forums, presentations of professions, engineering competitions, excursions, training events, master classes;
- Organization of all types of practices, targeted communication with departments and departments of institutes (head of departments responsible for practice), record keeping, registration and provision of documents for regime enterprises. Interaction with enterprises and organizations in order to collect information about places of industrial and pre-graduate practices and vacancies, organization and conduct of excursions, meetings with technical representatives of production facilities, monitoring of the labor market;
- Processing of address e-mail, conducting specific business correspondence with employment partners, conducting information and advertising work, reporting to higher structures (including the Ministry of Education), document management on practical activities, working out current department documents;
- Monitoring the employment of university graduates (separately for each institute, directions and specializations), maintaining a database of graduates, starting in 2019, organizing interaction with district employment centers and the Committee on Labor and Employment of Almaty, monthly forecasting of graduates employment.
The Department of Career offers students and graduates of the university:
To organize the employment of graduates, KazITU students are invited to post their resume on the university`s website and fill out a questionnaire form for a student and submit a paper version to the Department of practice and employment.
Students resumes and questionnaires will be stored in the department and available only to employees. According to the application for vacancies of companies, these data will be provided to the employer. Also, this data can be provided to companies for selection for professional practice. Students will receive information about vacancies in companies, company presentations and selection for internship at the email address specified when posting their resume on the website.
The employer has the opportunity to fill out the questionnaire "Questionnaire for the employer", which allows to study the quality of training of graduates of METU.
